The art of decorating metal with enameling or Meenakari was alien to India and was introduced by the Mughals and Raja Man Singh of Amber brought it to the current Indian state of Rajasthan at the turn of the 16th century. Man Singh brought skillful Meenakari artisans from the Mughal palace at Lahore and established them in Jaipur, which became the center of this craft form. Today this art form is active and alive with these same techniques passed over generations of artisans. Their discipline and skills are evident in every finished single piece that bears their unique mark.
